Do I Matter?
There are so many hurting people in the world who need to know that God cares for them. Please share with someone who needs to hear this truth.
When I was in business, I was concerned about making sure my company mattered to my customers. I tried hard to see that everyone in my company acted in such a way that every customer felt they were important. In other words, the relationship had to be more than a transaction between company and customer. We needed to care. This background brings me to this question.
Do you matter?
Not as a customer, but as a person. God says you do. God says we all do. In fact, we matter so much that He was willing to send someone who mattered very much to Him, to pay the price we could not pay, to show His great love for us. John 3:16. Even when we feel that no one cares about us, God says, I do.
You are part of His Creation and Purpose
Here is an awesome truth. Even before the universe was created, God had you in mind, and he planned you for His purposes. Ephesians 1:3-6. You are not here by chance nor by accident. You truly matter to God – before the world was and even now. These continuing verses in Ephesians 4:7-14 make it clear that God has redeemed us through Christ so our existence will extend far beyond our time on earth. You and I have been made for eternity. Doesn’t that prove that you and I are not insignificant?
Here is another truth. You don’t just matter in the big things, like your salvation. Everything that matters to you, matters to God. We know this because as a loving Father, He calls us “little children”, 1 John 4:4. From the smallest annoyance to the biggest adversities, He see us and cares.
How then should we respond?
As we continue reading the book of Ephesians, we see two main themes: Chapters 1 thru 3 tells us what we should believe. The truths of who we are and how God has determined to reconcile us to Himself. Chapters 4 thru 6 tells us how to live out those truths in this new life we have been given in all our relationships.
There are many more scriptures that show how much God cares. I’ll close with this verse showing that we are loved even in all our imperfections, Romans 5:8, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us .”
You matter - to God and to me. Blessings!
